I was going to "let this one slide" this week and not send the Monday (now Tuesday) Morning Pep Talk.
But then I thought, maybe somebody else needs the pep talk I've been giving myself for the last three weeks... it will get better.
The pinched nerve in my neck has yet to chill out and I'm going on almost three weeks of rough nights of sleep and days full of pain... it will get better.
Laundry is starting to pile up and I'm spending more time IN my bed than out of it... it will get better.
I have no idea how long this will last and keep wondering, is this my new normal? It will get better.
Whatever you're facing, whatever you're dealing with, trust it will get better. We're all going through something. Sometimes the thing we're going through is visible and obvious, sometimes it isn't. Sometimes the thing we're going through can't be seen, and we wonder if anyone else could possibly understand.
These are the times we really learn what grace is. The times when grace is extended to us and we're reminded to give it freely to others.
This is also the time when we can dig into our faith. It's the time when trusting in God's goodness can be the hardest. But when we fight the urge to despair and instead place our complete trust in Him we can let go of the weight we're carrying. We can let go and let God. We can rest in knowing it will get better.
This week I'm digging in and trusting in Him. I'm also starting a 40-day prayer challenge called Draw the Circle. Written by pastor Mark Batterson, Draw the Circle is a 40-Day prayer challenge that will inspire you to pray boldly and daily.
I don't know when the pain in my neck will go away, but I trust it will get better. I say this with confidence because I know I serve a God who can redeem any situation, any circumstance - and even if the answer is no, He is still good.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.
Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
I will be found by you." declares the Lord...
- Jeremiah 29:11 - 14
Read the complete verse at Blue Letter Bible (my favorite online resource for scripture).
Have a great rest of your week and remember, whatever you're facing - God loves you. He has a plan for your life. He is the Great I Am... and He still knows the number of hairs on your head.
It will get better. And you are not alone.
