I'm Liz and God designed me to be an encourager, a dreamer, a story teller and most importantly, a Kingdom builder.
Honestly, I can’t think of a single one; I’ve just never really gotten into making New Year’s Resolutions.
But this year have I think I’m going to do it. How about you? Do you make and keep New Year’s Resolutions? Or are you more inclined to make and break them? Or maybe just not make them at all!
I actually have two resolutions for 2017. My first one is to write at least 500 words a day (this email is about 409, so it’s not unrealistic). Back in November I started writing about 250 words a day and was able to stick with it exactly two weeks before I got distracted, busy, pulled in every other direction (than my keyboard) and eventually let my motivation crumble.
And I think that’s the kicker right there… motivation. We start a new year with abounding motivation and somewhere along the way it becomes muffled, muddled and eventually gets lost in the shuffle of #allthethings.
My second resolution is to launch an online course about learning to get control of your stuff… so it doesn’t control you. We live in a culture obsessed with more and quite frankly, I think it’s wearing us out.
Giving away 75% of what we owned has resulted in a tremendous freedom that I believe comes when we actively choose less, and I’m excited to share with others who are ready to give up the myth that more is always better.
Living with less also helps us to avoid the distractions that eventually diminish our motivation… and when we stay motivated we can knock those resolutions out of the park.
So what about you? Will you be making a list of resolutions for 2017?
Wherever you stand on resolutions, my hope for you is that as 2016 comes to a close and we embark on a brand new year, you have hope for the future and motivation that stays the course.
